Story: Chianti was born to an immigrant family, half-Spanish and half-Italian. They had come to Alaska hoping to strike it rich in gold, even buying the best dogs they could find to pull a sled during the winter. Then they just hoped they could eek out a living selling litters of puppies from the high-bred dogs they bought back when they actually had money. Turns out they weren't very good at that either. They got too attached to their dogs and kept half of the ones they intended to sell. They made a great sled team, however. They would rent out their services for money and eventually started another modest breeding operation, this time better prepared to give up their litters when the time came.
Chianti came from the family's first litter of pure huskies. Named for the wines of Spain and Italy, which the family missed terribly, Chianti's litter was a success and produced a good bunch of hardy, athletic pups. Chianti was named after a famous wine out of Italty, the color of which closely resembled her rich dark red patches.
Chianti was sold with her sister Airen to a family in Nome. Her brother, Arneis, who she is very close to, was sold to a family only a few doors down and is a swing dog for a solid sled team. Chianti and her sister, along with a team, pull sleds for their owner's logging business.
Chianti is a very middle-of-the-road kind of gal, prefering balance in everything-not overly playful, but not stifflingly serious. She usually jusdges a situation and acts accordingly. She was very shy as a pup, but her outgoing and trouble-making sister, Airen, taught her how to open up and let go. While not the best influence- getting her into trouble on more than a few occasions and instilling an independpent streak in her that crops up in her every now and again- Airen did teach Chianti how fun it could be to actually be out in the world and interacting with others. Since then, it has been Chianti's goal to make others laugh with her quick-wit and make them feel comfortable. Knowing how it is to be shy, Chianti is especially protective of her still semi-reserved brother, Arneis, or others she sees with the same problem, her sharp tongue being her best weapon. She works hard on her team, often accused of being a "suck-up" by her sister, which is partially true. Chianti just wants to please those she likes, whether by making them laugh or working hard on the job.
