History:

The first thing that Light rembered when she opened her eyes was the face of her mother and brother. As she and her twin sister Cassidy grew up, they got to know Altai better. They both loved him. The three of them loved playing together. Their favourite game was sledding. They didn't have a sled, but they pretended that they did and ran. Light loved to play on the beach on a windy day. Kodi often warned her not to get too close to the sea but she didn't heed his advice. But secretly, she never got close to the edge in fear of falling off. She had a huge fear of water and would hardly go near the waves like Cassidy and Altai. Whenever they tried to persuade her to play with them in the waves, she would deny and shrink back. Dusty felt scared by her daughter's behaviour at the mention of water. Kodi tried to find out why she was scared but she wouldn't say a word to anyone, not even Altai and Cassidy. Balto had a suspicion about her fear but he decided to keep it a secret.

As Light grew into a beautiful teen husky, many of the male dogs started to notice her and tried to flirt with her. But Altai kept them all at bay. Light never realised that Altai was only trying to protect her. She yelled at him and he yelled back. He tried to make her understand that he was trying to stop her from getting hurt, but she yelled at him saying that he didn't know anything about love. Saying so, she stormed away in anger. Altai called for her but she hid under a few planks and silently shed her tears. She didn't know that she was right behind her mother's house. Dusty heard sniffling and went behind to see Light crying. Dusty wanted to know why her daughter was so down in the dumps. Light told her mother the whole story and Dusty shook her head. She was about to tell Light what was Altai's true intention when they heard Altai coming. Light told Dusty to hide her. But Dusty didn't. In frustration, Light went under the planks again and hoped her mother wouldn't give her away. When Altai came up and asked Dusty where Light was, Dusty pointed towards the planks. Light silently cursed as Altai walked up to her. She looked at her mother. Dusty said that this was the only way Light would understand. She walked away. Altai tried to talk but Light told him not to bother about it. Altai told her that he was only trying to stop her from getting hurt. Light's voice quivered as she asked Altai how would she ever get hurt if he kept stopping her. Altai told her that he didn't want her to see her hurt, that was why he protected her. Light silently said that she was sorry as she didn't understand why he did it. He told her that it was okay. In the meantime, Kodi had arrived at the spot to see his two kids making up. Dusty told him about the quarrel and how she found Light. Kodi felt relieved that Altai and Light had made up.

After that day, Light loved her brother more and more. She enjoyed sitting beside Altai and Cassidy, watching the sled team going to and fro with the mail. Like Balto, she was fascinated with Duke's plane. He often got her to guard his plane as he went into his house for a few minutes. She loved trying to race the plane once in flight. Her siblings followed her example and the three had a wonderful time. One day, Altai told Light his dream of being Lead Dog. She teased him saying that he couldn't even run as fast as her, how would he ever be Lead Dog. He saw that she was joking and laughed along with his two sisters. Light then put in that one day he might be a Lead Dog. Then she revealed that she wanted to be part of a sled team. In the middle, Cassidy said that she also wanted to be a part of a sled team. Light, always having second thoughts, said that maybe they were too young to be sled dogs. She said that Balto had told her the dangers out in the world.

Altai looked at her and asked her if she was going to be small forever. She told him that it wouldn't be long now that they all would be in the sled team. He said that he would ask Kodi what he thought and Light said that she didn't think it was such a good idea. Cassidy said that she wouldn't do that if she was him but he ignored them and walked away. Cassidy suggested that they go after him but Light decided to stay and see what happens. Soon, they saw Altai run out angry and go to Balto's cabin in the shipwreck. Balto walked up to them, seeing Altai run. Kodi came up and asked Balto to talk to Altai. Light suggested that she talked to him but Balto said that he could manage. He walked into the cabin and Light strained her ears to catch what they were saying. Soon, Balto and Altai came out.

A few days later, news came that the mail team was lost. Light was filled with worry and overheard her brother's silent plan to save their parents. At night, she and Cassidy confronted Altai and the three trekked the wilderness in search of Kodi and Dusty. It was the most difficult moments of Light's life. She felt like breaking down and crying her eyes out in exhaustion but she knew she had to be strong for her parents. Finally, the trio reached the ocean. Light was frightened of the waves. She turned back to see a wolf coming towards her. She saw another wolf coming from behind her. They were surrounded. Before Altai could strike, a wolfdog resembling Balto came up. Light realised that this was her aunt, Aleu. Aleu helped them find the sled team. As Kodi, Dusty and Ralph had broken legs, Altai, Cassidy and Light took their places in the team, with Altai as Lead Dog. Light had layed enough sled games to know how to respond to Altai's every movement. They reached safely back to Nome. Light was relieved that they made it safely back. She had enjoyed being a sled dog. That night, she had a dream of her great-grandmother Aniu, who told her that they had made her very proud indeed.

Distinguishing Features: Light is dark red in colour with creamy white undersides. Her eyes are shaped like Aleu's.
