Personality: Altai is very playful. He is very protective of his two sisters and can't stand any other male with them. He loves to play the leader and loves to lead. He has a very similar personality to his father.

History:

Altai was the first born when Dusty bore Kodi's pups. Balto was very proud of his grandson. Jenna said that Altai was just like Kodi. Kodi loved to play with his son. Not long after, Dusty bore two twins, Light and Cassidy. Altai was the only one with grey fur like his mother. Kodi feared that he was a wolfdog too. He didn't want Altai to leave like Aleu. It turned out that Altai's fur was from his mother. Altai liked his sisters from the second he saw them. He liked being the big brother. He enjoyed his sister's company. Kodi liked to see his three pups playing together. Altai wanted to be a sled dog. By then, Kodi had got the position of Lead Dog. Altai also wanted to be a Lead Dog.

Balto could see great leadership in his young grandson. Altai loved playing sled with his sisters. He always lead. He was patient and could even put up with Boris and Stella. Kodi could see that Altai would take his place as Lead Dog when he retired. As Altai grew, he became more and more protective of his two sisters. He didn't want them to get hurt. He could run as fast as Balto and Kodi. He resembled Kodi more and more as he grew up. The sled team liked the way he could run faster than them. They asked Kodi if he could come into the team too. But Kodi denied, saying that Altai was too young and it was a dangerous job. Altai overheard his father talking about him and out of anger stepped in and confronted Kodi. Kodi didn't know that Altai had been listening at the door. Kodi tried to make him explain that it wouldn't be long now, Altai would soon be a part of the sled team. But Altai yelled at his father that Kodi didn't want him to be in the sled team and ran out, crying. Dusty asked Balto to talk to Altai and make him realise. Balto found Altai by Balto's blanket, silently shedding tears. Balto sat down beside him and slowly talked to him about the sled team. Altai tried to change the subject, but he found that Balto was firm on the subject. When Balto asked him to wait a little longer for his chance, he nodded his head.

As Balto was leaving the cabin, Altai told him that he was the best grandfather ever. Altai patiently waited for that time when he would be a sled dog. One day, news came that the sled dogs were nowhere to be seen. The mail was late and even after some time, the team didn't arrive. Duke reported that the sled dogs had totally vanished from sight. Altai began to get worried about his parents. Balto reassured him saying that Kodi and Dusty would come back. He told Altai the story about how he went and searched for the sled team and brought the medicine back to Nome. Altai got inspired with this story. He got the feeling that the sled team was lost. He was filled with worry. He decided to leave in the dead of night and save his parents.

Just as he was about to slip away in the middle of the night, he heard a sound. He turned to see Light and Cassidyfollowing him. He told them to go back because didn't want them hurt and this was a very dangerous journey. But they argued that Kodi and Dusty were their parents too. Altai reluctantly let them come with him. He was frightened of the snowstorm that was coming nearer. The three young dogs struggled against the forces of nature. Altai realised that Kodi was right, it was very dangerous. He made a mental note in his mind to tell Kodi that he was sorry. But there was no going back now, they had to save their parents. Soon, the three dogs reached the ocean. Altai remembered Balto's story about his aunt, Aleu. He was wondering who she was when he heard a growl. He turned to see his sisters surrounded by wolves. He stood over them and prepared to fight a fight which he knew he couldn't possibly win. Just before Altai could strike, a voice told them to wait. The wolves parted to reveal a wolfdog looking just like Kodi. She regarded him before she asked him who he was. When Altai introduced himself and his sisters, she asked him what he was doing here. He told her that he was looking for his parents, Kodi and Dusty. He then realised that he was looking at his aunt, Aleu. When Altai told Aleu the whole story, she sent out a few of her wolves to look for the sled dogs.

At dawn, the pack split up to look for Kodi and Dusty. Aleu was with Altai, Light and Star. They finally found the sled team in the snow, marooned. Kodi was happy to see his sister.Kodi, Dusty and Ralph had broken legs. Altai had an idea to put his parents and Ralph with the musher. He wanted Aleu to lead, but she said no, as her pack needed her. Kodi told Altai to lead, as this was his dream. Altai got into the harness with his sisters taking Ralph's and Dusty's place. Aleu smiled at her nephew nd howled. The team echoed the howl and she ran off to her pack of wolves. Altai lead the dogs back. He remembered the way too clearly. When they returned, cheers sounded in Altai's ears. He was being petted and stroked. The musher was telling them how Altai found them and lead the way back. It turned out that Altai had a Lead Dog's blood in him. A few nights later, as Altai wondered about wolves. Then Aniu appeared in front of him and told him that his adventure had only just begun.

Distinguishing Features: Altai greatly resembles his father. He has grey fur with creamy white undersides. He has blue eyes like his mother.
