James was born a good-natured dog in a small town a few miles from Nome, though his original human owners took him from his mother when he was young and turned him into a champion fighter.  He hated every fight he had and regretted hurting every dog he did.  Once day, his owners were found out by law enforcement and he was taken to a kennel in Nome.
Soon after his arrival at the kennel, James was spotted by a human family and taken in.  With their love and care, he was able to live the life he always wanted--learning to be unafraid of the world and love others the way he was meant to.  He became a lead sled dog and cherished family pet.
During his time in Nome, he met and fell in love with Jenette and eventually became her mate.  When their daughter, Jenna, was born, James taught his daughter to treat others with the greatest of respect.

For reasons unknown, James did not live long enough to see any of his grandchildren.
