Duke is my red-faced pup but he's from Balto and Jenna's second litter, not the first. When Duke was younger a man by the name of John traveled all the way to Nome from Chicago to adopt a puppy from the legendary Balto. He chose Duke because of how rough he seemed when playing with his brothers and sisters. After taking the red-faced pup back to Chicago he began training him. Duke never got to play even as a puppy, his idea of "playing" was running down the street with John for miles and miles. In a year and a half Duke's training payed off when he became a involved in dog fights by winning his first fight without any trouble at all. One year later, Duke lost his first fight and it was brutal. Clinging on to his life, John sent him back to Nome when a friend went to go visit some relatives. Duke was dropped off in the middle of the woods, left to die in the freezing snow. A musher came along with his team of dogs and found Duke frozen and barely breathing. The musher (Carl) took him and nursed him back to health. Duke showed Carl how fast he could run when he was feeling better and proved that he was the fastest dogs in Nome, except for Demon, who was Carl's lead dog. Soon enough Duke becomes a part of the team and finally finds out what it feels like to be loved.
He's really quiet in Chicago, but after he moves back to Nome he becomes very social. He's only mean when he has to be or when he's threatened. Controlling his feelings is very hard for him especially when he's being hurt or he sees someone being tortured. He likes everyone on his team except Ryley, a medium-brown, purebred husky that thinks hybrid dogs are filthy animals. Most importantly he loves Tara, a beautiful wolf that was saved by Carl as a pup lost from her mother during a horrible snow storm and eventually was trained just like a regular dog.
Likes: Tara, Carl, his team, running, relaxing, being loved
Dislikes: Ryley, John, fighting, losing control of his feelings
Fears: Being beaten by another dog, going back to Chicago
