Full Name
Koltav

Koltav was born into a litter of seven healthy puppies. His owner, dog breeder Mr Ludovic, owned many dogs, two of his favourite being Koltav's parents, Click and Blean.

Koltav was troublesome to keep once he was fully grown - he'd become a big dog, as big as a large male wolf, and just as strong. With his great strength he snapped his collars easily, and his great height made scaling fences a breeze. And once he was out of Mr Ludovic's dog enclosure, he would roam far and wide for ages. Sometimes it was days before he was found again. Nothing could tether him - rope he would chew, and if he was chained, he would manage to gnaw through his collar. At long last a chain was used as a collar - still, he eventually found a way to slip out of that.

When Koltav was finally sold on, firm instructions had to be given to Koltav's new owner; that he should be shut into a secure building ever time he was not in sled harness, or else very firm precautions were to be made when tethering him.

How Koltav was sold occurred as follows: he was a nosy, curious character (which explains why he loved to wander away from home). Big news captivated him, and he was always on the search for what he liked to call ''the Latest Waffle''. One morning, when the Ludovic Kennels dogs were being fed, Koltav overheard his master talking about a certain long-lost champion sled dog that had found. The champion's name was Steele, infamous among dogs for his actions during the Diptheria Epidemic in Nome a good few years previously. The man who had found Steele had gathered a racing team, with Steele as leader, and the newly formed group were due to pass through the town of Solomon back to their base in White Mountain, where they were gong to enter a race.

Koltav had not met any famous racedogs personally before - Steele was to be the first. When he heard that Steele's team had just passed through Solomon, he slipped his tether and was off, out of the town in pursuit.

With his immense speed and strength he soon caught up with Steele's dogs, whose owner was impressed by Koltav's racing potential, and he bought him from Mr Ludovic.

After months working as a wheel dog in Steele's team (happily, alongside his brother Garco), Koltav somehow became feral - the call to live wild was strongly beckoning. He became mates with Melle, a harbour dog in Nome. Later, they started a family tribe which Koltav, as leader, named the Brook Song 'stead'.

When Koltav passed away, his son Norceen succeeded him as leader of the tribe.
