History: When he was a young pup, his mother was chased by hunters. She carried her remaining pup away, being hunted for a very long time. She eventually found a human home in the forest and ran straight into it. She dropped her young pup in front of the startled couple and then fled, being shot immediately by the hunters who had caught up to her. Feeling sorry for the pup and angry that a wolf had been killed on their land, they raised him and named him Shilah. When he was little over a year old, they decided that it was time to part with the wolf and they took him away to a wildlife reservation. Shilah felt empty for a while, having loved his human friends dearly. He barely remembered his mother and was unsure of how to act in the wild. He was found by a small pack living on the reservation and they took him in, despite not liking him too much. He became very friendly with them until the alpha attacked him for not knowing his place. After that, he became more quite and obedient and tried his best to find a place to belong in the pack. As he got older, he realised that he was missing something. He left the pack and travelled away from the reservation, living alone for a year. He soon stumbled upon Chitto, a young wolfdog who had run away from his own pack. He decided to teach him how to hunt properly, as he wasn't too good at it. After a while, Shilah became attached to the pup and allowed him to live with him. They travelled around, with Shilah being the main hunter. One day on a hunting trip, Shilah found an injured female wolfdog. Her front legs were bleeding and she limped on her back leg as well. Shilah took pity on her and, although it took some talking, she eventually trusted him. Shilah promised to take care of her and hunted food for her often and would go to visit her. He somewhat neglected his brother and didn't even think to tell him. One day while he was caring for Reid, the female, Chitto appeared to them and said he'd followed him. After a while, they agreed to travel together. Shilah was soon overjoyed when Reid agreed to become his mate and she fell pregnant. However, the winter was harsh and the three didn't get a lot to eat. To make it worse, Shilah became ill and Chitto had to care for him somewhat. Shilah's pride got in the way of his common sense and he made himself even more sick by going on hunts with Chitto. Shortly before Reid was going to give birth, a lynx attacked them and Shilah fought it. However, he was weak and the lynx killed him. When Reid had pups, her surviving son was named Shilah Junior.
Relation to Balto: His son travels to Nome after his death and meets Rosewood, the great-grandaughter of Steele.
