After she and her siblings were grown and sold, her mother's owner moved and she hasn't seen or heard from her since. Her father became very protective over her and her older sister, telling them that males only wanted one thing and once they got it, they'd leave and go off with some other female. Meriem belived him for awhile and never spoke to males, but her sister Rosa didn't belive their father for long. She met a border collie male named Ken and fell in love with him. Their father was furious and tried everything to keep Ken away. Finnaly Rosa snapped and yelled at him, telling him to back off and she was going to have a family with Ken. Then she left. Meriem thought very hard over this, because her sister seemed very happy with Ken. She often visited and Ken was warm and kind to her. Meriems thoughts of males changed and she slowly began talking to them.

When her family moved to Nome, she met a very kind male named Jason. Before she could even say her name, her father attacked Jason and told him to scram and never go near his daughter again. Meriem was furious and told her father off. Her broher Lanito agreed with her father, telling her Jason was kown as the towns ladies man and flirted with every gir.l he saw. Meriem refused to belive them and propley set off to find Jason again.
