Another day, another bone: Let's make tracks

Two hours passed, and luckily the lull of the rush had toned down. Zero leaned on the counter by Charlie and Itchy, looking tired.
"Sheesh... I didn't know so many dogs could come in one morning. Huh, my dogs are tired..." Zero said, rubbing his paws a bit. "At least the morning rush is over."
"You just wait until the lunch rush, that's even more hectic." Charlie said, chuckling. Zero groaned a bit.
"Why can't this job be easier?" Zero asked, laying his muzzle on the counter.
"I got an idea. Say Itch, remember that time Sasha left us in charge of the Fleabite and we had that train and tracks running through to deliver orders?"
"Charlie, don't remind me, please." Itchy said, putting his paws over his ears. Zero, on the other paw, looked interested.
"How did that work out for you?"
"Glad you asked." Charlie said, glad to have gotten someones attention. "It worked out pretty well, just a few bugs made it blow up after awhile."
"... It blew up?" Zero asked, looking around the place.
"It was an easy clean up, right Itch?" Charlie asked, thumping his friends back.
"Can't hear you Charlie, wild idea's are not allowed in these ears." Itchy replied, not even looking at the German Shepherd mix. Zero shook his head.
"Why don't you tell me more Charlie?" Charlie then turned his attention back to the black Shepherd.
"Anyway, what if you use that to make orders easier? I don't think Sash would mind."
  "Are you sure Charlie..."
"I wouldn't listen to him if I were you Zero, he's always coming up with these hair-brained schemes. They almost never work." Itchy warned, glaring at Charlie.
"Itch, you worry to much. This time we'll make sure all the bugs are out of the system." Charlie said, wagging his tail. Zero picked up their dishes now that he had a chance.
"I'll think about it... You two just try to stay out of trouble." Zero said, taking the dirty dishes to the back and starting to clean them while he had a chance.
"Charlie, it's not a good idea to drag Zero into this, he could lose his job."
"He's not going to lose his job as long as he keeps his trap shut." Charlie replied, patting Itchy's head. Zero came back and took a seat behind the counter.
"My paws are tired... Alright, we'll go with your idea Charlie." Charlie then reached over and clapped Zero on the back.
"You won't regret it pal!" He said, then racing out.
  "What have I done..."
  "What have you done..."
Zero and Itchy had said it simutaneously. They stared at each other a moment, then bust out laughing.

Zero and Itchy were discussing how this was going to work out since Charlie was getting the supplies.
"So we just attach tracks all around the tables?"
"Over to, so it can be put on the table before it goes off to get the next order."
"Is there going to be a four way intesection to direct it?"
"Yup, just like the infortunate last time."
After that Charlie came back in, carrying a few bags on his back.
"Get these things off me..." He growled, then collapsing after that. Zero and Itchy quickly went over and started getting the stuff off the big dog. The black Shepherd took a curious peek into one of the bags. Inside were toy train tracks, trains, little signs, and a small generator.
"Sheesh Charlie, got enough?" Zero asked, looking surprised.
"I think I did. Two bags worth oughtta do... Uh oh, here comes Sash!"The big dog said, hiding behind the counter, dragging the bags with him. Zero retook his spot behind the counter and cleaned  up a bit of a spill Charlie made when he jumped over. He had knocked over the glass Itchy was using while he was gone, which only had a bit of drink left.
"Hey Zero, hey Itchy. How's business so far Zero?" The Irish Setter asked, smiling a bit.
"All going well Sasha, I'm keeping up pretty good with the orders." Zero replied, some of the weariness gone. "Oddly enough, I haven't seen Charlie around. Itchy was just telling me he didn't feel well right Itch?"
"What? Oh yeah! Charlie must have come down with something from something he ate last night. You know him, always shoving stuff down his throat." Itchy said, trying not to look nervous. Charlie was about to stand up and say something to Itchy, but Zero kicked him in warning, trying not to look like he was moving to much.
"Well I hope he feels better. If he comes down, remind of him of his tab would you?" Sasha said, not noticing Zero moving.
"Got it Sasha, you can count on me." Zero said, saluting. She nodded in approval and left again.
"... She gone?" Charlie whispered up to Zero.
  "Yeah, she is."
"Good." Charlie said, then biting Zero's leg.
"Ow! What the heck was that for?!"
"For kicking me..." Charlie said, then standing up straight. "Anyway, let's get started with these tracks."
"Sure..." Zero said, rubbing his sore back leg. They got to work fairly quickly, Zero and Itchy apologizing to customers they got in the way of, Charlie just bullrushing through. They also shouted instructions to each other from different parts of the Fleabite.
"Charlie, those tracks are to far! Move them closer!"
"Hey Z, try putting the tracks over the counter will ya?"
"Zero, I could use some help over here!"
"Charlie, be careful you almost knocked that waiter with the chili over! Slow down! Coming Itch!"
They were done in a few minutes, where the train sets were plugged into the small generator in the back. Zero sat in a chair, panting slightly.
"Took us awhile, but we got this down." Zero said, grinning proudly at their work. "I'm sure this will increase productivity by quite a bit." Charlie grinned proudly.
"This is gonna be great! G-R-E-A-T." He said, wagging his tail. Itchy still looked a bit skeptical.
"Are you sure this is going to work Charlie? I dunno if all the bugs are fixed." He said, looking nervously at the tracks to his right. Luckily the cooks were in on it and willing to try the idea. And just in time, the lunch rush had just started. Zero didn't have to move much, just take an order at the bar, give it to the cooks, then wait for the train to send their food out. It was all going pretty smoothly...

About forty minutes had passed after everything was set up, and the rush was still strong but weakining. Zero was cleaning out a glass for another dog to use when one of the waiters came up and tapped his back.
"Excuse me, Zero right?" Zero turned and looked at the waiter. It was the Golden Retriver from earlier.
  "Yeah, what's up?"
Charlie and Itchy were sitting nearby talking about how well this was going so far.
"It's about that generator in the back... It's smoking."
"What?!" Were the three simultaneous responses. The trio rushed back and saw that the generator was indeed smoking.
"Charlie what's going on?!" Zero asked, looking from the little smoking machine to Charlie. "I thought all the bugs were fixed!"
"That's what I thought!" The German Shepherd mix said, running out and coming back with a table cloth, trying to cool the thing down by fanning it. "This isn't working!" He threw the table cloth on top of it then went to get something else.
"Itchy, do you know what to do?" The Dachshund shook his head frantically.
"No, I don't and- Gah!" He quickly jumped away as the table cloth burst into flames.
"Darn it Charlie!" Zero yelled and went to get a fire extinguisher. He was back quick, Itch trying to beat it down with a broom he found nearby. Charlie also came back.
"The trains are busted! Their going past their speed and are out of-" He was hit on the back of the head by a de-railed train. Zero quickly tried to put the flames out, and heard some popping sounds.
"Hit the deck!" The cooks, waiters, customaers, and the trio quickly ducked as the generator exploded. Zero lifted his head and noted that there was only damage in the room and bits of metal had gone around the Fleabite. He also saw something he didn't really want to... Sasha coming in the front way, stopping and gaping around.
"What did you do to my Cafe?!" The Irish Setter yelled. Zero, Charlie and Itchy glanced at each other and stood up.
"We're closing down early to clean up folks... We'll be back open by tomorrow..." Zero said, and the customers left gratefully. "Anyway Sasha... Charlie presented me with an idea to make my job a bit easier and I took it..." His words faded away as she glared at him.
"Zero, if you want to keep your job, you'll get this place cleaned up pronto. I'm going to go before I do something I regret to any of you." She said, turning and walking out, shaking with a bit of fury. The trio looked at each other, sighed, and started to work.

Zero had started to sweep up minutes later, talking to Itchy, who was picking up tracks and bits of train.
"That could have been worse. Least the Fleabite didn't go up in flames like that

That's kinda what I'm going for, which is exactly why I got the title and the name of the actual, as you said, 'episode.' Another day, another bone is going to be a name that sticks as this fic goes along. I'm glad that I'm keeping the personality traits and such right on the mark.

lol Not bad. It played out like something on the show. Even the dialogue was pretty accurate to the characters.
